Accelerated Paramedic-to-RN Bridge Programs in the U.S.?
Approximately three years ago I resigned from my position as a paramedic-firefighter after 11 years in the field after sustaining significant injuries while on duty. Now that I’m fully recovered I’m considering shifting gears and pursuing a career in nursing. Are you aware of any accelerated paramedic-to-RN bridge programs in the U.S. that allow me to obtain my RN licensure faster? Any advice you could provide would be greatly appreciated?
What Does it Take to Become a Certified Nurse Case Manager?
I have been a critical care nurse for 14 years, and I have been applying for case management nursing positions but have been told I lack experience in that area. Would it be worth my time and expense to certify in case management? Do you have any recommendations for this transition?
Working in the NICU After Graduation?
I’ve been working as a CNA in med-surge for the past three years, but will be graduating from a two-year RN program in May. I’m interested in working as a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) nurse. What clinical experience and/or training should a nurse have to work in the NICU? In addition to RN licensure, are there additional certification requirements? Can I begin working in the NICU after graduation?
  Role of the Forensic Nurse?
I’m an RN currently working full-time as a nurse educator for a large fire department in Southern California. I’m interested in pursuing a career in forensic nursing. I currently hold an MSN and am looking into doctorate programs in nursing science. Can you help clarify the role of the forensic nurse as well as the educational and/or training requirements for this specialty? What’s the job outlook for this specialty?
New Grad Seeks Advice on Sorting Through 'Perks'
Although I graduated from my BSN program last summer, I just recently passed the NCLEX-RN exam in California. I’ve been offered opportunities to work as an interim RN, but have waited so that I could focus on preparing for the exam. It seems recruiters have been enticing me with offers to work for their hospital ever since I was in the nursing program, but now I actually have the time to start sorting through compensation and benefits packages for new graduate nurses. Sorting through salaries, pay differentials, bonuses, loan-repayment and continuing education programs is quite a feat. In addition to these aspects, what else should I be considering or looking out for in both the short- and long-term. I appreciate any advice you can provide to assist me with sorting through the maze of recruitment offers.
