  Nocturnal Nightmare or New Lease on Life?
In Oklahoma City, longer, slower, nocturnal hemodialysis is generating positive results. According to a recent news article, a dialysis service provider is offering an alternative to daytime dialysis—night time dialysis treatments. Nocturnal dialysis is administered three nights per week for eight hours at a time (in comparison to three times per week for three- to five-hour daytime sessions).
  Caffeine Prevents Parkinson’s Disease
Caffeine lovers rejoice! New studies indicate that people that consume caffeine regularly or drink coffee have a lower risk of developing Parkinson’s disease than those that don’t.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently issued a report stating that diabetes is on the rise and now affects approximately eight percent of the entire U.S. population. Of the 24 million people diagnosed with diabetes, all age groups and both men and women are experiencing an increase in the disease.
  Beware the Elliptical Eye
Have you heard the expression “snake eyes”? If you have ever looked into the eyes of a real live snake, you'll notice there are two types of eyes, round and elliptical. Of course if a snake crosses your path, don’t stick around to check out its eyes; slowly and cautiously back away. As a general rule, however, if the eyes are elliptical (cat’s eyes), this type of snake is almost always poisonous and is dangerous to humans.
  Tics: An Important Diagnostic Tool?
Are you familiar with Tourette Syndrome and how it is diagnosed? The CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) reports that Tourette Syndrome is an inherited, neurological disorder characterized by involuntary movements (called motor tics), and uncontrollable vocalizations (called vocal or phonic tics). A tic is defined as a sudden rapid, recurrent, non-rhythmic, stereotyped motor movement or vocalization.
